Like allready mentioned yesterday, the day started at 5 o’clock
for me, You’ll probably ask why. Well, matter of fact beeing,
that we’re off to visit the pope. A delegation of 30 students,
representing all the member unions of the EUJS was offered the unique
occasion to have an audience with the pope!
The pope greeted us with the prase: „I bid a very warm welcome
to the participants of the Summer-U, sponsored by the European Union
of Jewish Students“.
He was greeted back by us with one simple word: „Shalom“!
After this, Olga Israel, Chairperson of EUJS and Gad Lazarov, Vice-Chair
of the UGEI (Italian Union of Jewish Students) were personaly welcomed
by Pope Benedict, were he was handed out a letter, in which the
EUJS called for his support in speaking up for the victims of the
genocide in Darfur,
After this, we joined the rest of the Summer-U, to have either guided
tours around the city, or for some of us, private walks to visit
this amazing (and on this day also amazingly hot) city.
After coming home to our hotel at about 11 o’clock, there
were still some brave souls, ready to party, but for most of us,
there was only one goal: finally some sleep...
